One year after install: a perennial garden, growing into non-stop color and texture.

I was happy to visit this one-year-old perennial garden planting GPGD designed and installed in 2024, for a client on Chicago’s north suburbs. During my late Summer visit (2025), I was pleased (as is the client!) with the fuller-than-expected blooms, texture, and pollinator sources. This garden is plagued by bunnies, nibbling at some key plants; it’s heartbreaking to see the work of carefully-chosen and selected grasses and blooms, chewed up so indiscriminately. However, we’ll work to continue to improve and re-plant some small sections in this garden. The blooms of Echinops, Agastache and Helenium, in particular, are blooming their socks off.
A reminder = gardens take years of cultivating, editing, and (some) re-planting, and this young garden will only continue to dazzle. (To gain a sense of the ‘before’ scene, click the images on the second gallery.
