Evergreen Screens

Evergreen Screens

I’ve been musing and working on fences and screens this winter, since my family and I are renovating our worn out backyard fence this year, installing new cedar fencing.  Our backyard boundaries are small so we need some slim and narrow options; we’d like to screen out the views of various neighboring garages, and alley views in.  One part of our treatment includes a line of Arborvitae ‘Art Boe’ (North Pole) evergreens along a north side boundary.  We selected the Art Boe Arborvitae for a few promising attributes, including a very narrow mature size (3’ to 4’ wide) while reaching 15’-to18’ high.   ‘Emerald Green’ Arborvitaes are typically used for such small-space screens, but Art Boe variety is even more narrow and taller than Emerald arb.  It’s an evergreen suddenly in demand and this selection was hard to source this past fall.  Grab some for your yard, if a small narrow zone needs it.
